About the event
A transcendent, immersive sound & vision experience inspired by Yure Gagarin's astonishing inaugural voyage into space. Music composed by Nicholas de Carlo and projected films and original animations by Julian Bigg and Johnny Goddard.
"Gagarin's story is one of the most compelling in human history. I wanted to imagine what those 108 minutes were like on a purely human scale, to try to communicate or illuminate the sheer dread, wonder and beauty of being the first human to leave earth, and to return safely again.
By following the journey immersively through music and moving images, I wanted to explore by re-living the space flight and allowing it to become an initiation and transformative experience as it was for Gagarin." - Nicholas de Carlo
"Mesmerising, though-provoking & spiritually uplifting" ***** - Ramsgate Festival of Sound
"The music is minimalist in the vein of Max Richter, with chugging rhythms, deftly layered textures and a good sense of pacing...The playing by the Modulus Quartet was excellent" **** - The Arts Desk
