About the event
orbiting earth in the spaceship, I saw how beautiful our planet is…let us preserve and increase this beauty, not destroy it! - Yuri Gagarin
For two performances only in a unique underground location, take your seat and orbit the earth with music composed by Nicholas de Carlo, inspired by Yuri Gagarin’s astonishing 108-minute inaugural voyage, performed by Modulus Quartet on the anniversary of Gagarin's flight.
Tracing the exhilarating flight with shimmering and melodic motifs, Gagarin Quartets will take you from mission launch through rapid sunset; lost behind the dark side of the earth to a starry new dawn, then tumbling over the skies of Africa and finally a hero’s arrival.
spiritually soaring...the performance stunned the audience with rich tonalities and cascading ripples into a well deserved standing ovation - Bandola, DJ
This dramatic yet minimalist string quartet score is augmented by soundscapes and film projections, creating a truly immersive event over 108 minutes in this historic and atmospheric venue.
Modulus Quartet explore new ways of presenting contemporary music, performing in unusual venues and incorporating visual arts and multi-media technology.
A treat for both the eyes and the ears and events not to be missed - Musician Magazine
Nicholas de Carlo’s music seeks to explore symbolic interpretations of subject matter and story. Previous projects include Tempelhof Airport, Berlin Stations, Women of Troy, Othello, The Human Body and Gagarin with previous albums ‘ Gagarin - Son of The Earth’ & ‘Gagarin - Returns’
