From the body's inner world to life's outer adventure - seven systems of the human body and the wonders of life.
Music and soundscapes by Nicholas de Carlo and projected films by Julian Bigg.
Exploring seven systems of the human body and the wonder of life - ANATOM is a journey through spellbinding film montages, soundscapes, with vibrant, live string quartet.
ANATOM explores seven different systems of the human body across the human life cycle; to better understand the complex beauty, interdependent processes and symmetries that lie beneath our very own skin. Where we might have come from and where we might be going.
Inspired by the wonder of the human body: from cell duplication and the structure of the skeleton; a newborn’s first breath and the branching lungs; a child’s racing steps and our muscular movement; dramatic storms of adolescence and the needs for food and power; our deep felt emotions and the heart circulating blood; changing awareness as we age and the sensory landscape of the nervous system, and finally, beyond this world and the mysterious chemicals at work within the body.
Explored through seven dramatic and uplifting, contemporary-classical live string quartet performances, accompanied by immersive, moving images, films and sound design, the experience is crafted to be both mesmerising and multi-sensory.
Nicholas de Carlo:
" ...pairing systems of the body with phases in our life, I was hoping to uncover unexpected resonances and an exciting, shared adventure along the way..."
